It was a busy day at The Paul Lawrie Golf Centre today (Tuesday 10th of May) for the first ever Paul Lawrie Foundation Aberdeen school’s competition. There was a total of 51 kids competing in all the sections, scratch, handicap and Under 12 flag competition. The kids played 9 holes at the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre in the various different sections.

The sun was shining throughout the day however windy conditions made it very tough for competitors during their rounds.

In the Under 12’s Flag section Amy Blackadder of Alford Primary got all the way to the 10th green and took home first prize. Euan Youngson of Cults Primary edged out Harry Mawhinney from Robert Gordon’s for 2nd place, Harry finished in 3rd place.

The Under 18’s handicap section consisted of some very good scores, Calum Wood of Milltimber Primary School playing in his first ever away golf competition took home 1st prize with a net score of 23 (-7). Holly Lovie of Ballater Primary School finished in 2nd place with a fantastic net score of 25 (-4). Harry Davidson of Albyn School edged out 3 other competitors on better last 3 holes to claim 3rd place with a net score of 26 (-3).

In the Under 18’s scratch section, Oliver Robertson of Cults Academy scored a wonderful score of 26 (-3) in tough conditions which saw him lead the field and finish 1st in the first ever Paul Lawrie Foundation Aberdeen Schools Competition. Ruby Watt of Lochside Academy finished with a birdie on hole number 9 to close out for a score of 28 (-2) and claim 2nd place. Boyd Gray of Banff Academy also finished with a birdie to close out a round of 30 (+1) to finish in 3rd place.
