It was a busy day at The Paul Lawrie Golf Centre today (Tuesday 9th of May) for the second Paul Lawrie Foundation Aberdeen school’s par 3  competition. There was a total of 56 kids competing in both sections, scratch & handicap. The kids played 9 holes at the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre.

The sun was shining and the wind and rain stayed away which meant condition were perfect for the player’s rounds.

The Under 18’s handicap section consisted of some very good scores, Ross Pirrie of Banchory Academy  took home 1st prize with a net score of 22 (-5). Louie Gardner of Dyce Academy finished in 2nd place with a fantastic net score of 22 (-5) however got beaten by Ross on better last 3 holes.Fraser Ironside of Kemnay Academy shot a net score of 23 (-4) to claim 3rd place.

In the Under 18’s boys scratch section, Oliver Robertson of Cults Academy scored a wonderful score of 25 (-2) in which saw him lead the field and finish 1st place for a second year running and become The Paul Lawrie Foundation Aberdeen Schools Par 3 Competition 2023 (boys). Oli Blackadder of Alford Academy had a respective seven pars, a bogey and a birdie close out for a score of 27 (E) and claim 2nd place. Evan Walker was the clubhouse leader for the majority of the day but got narrowly beaten in the final stages, he scores 29 (+2) to finish in 3rd place.

In the Under 18’s girls scratch section, Eve Ironside scored a brilliant score of 30 (+3) and had nothing more than a 4 on her card to claim The Paul Lawrie Foundation Aberdeen Schools Par 3 Competition 2023 (girls)

In the Under 18’s girls handicap section, Lois Reid had a net 22 which saw her win the handicap section.

Thanks very much to all the competitors and it was great to see a fantastic number of entries again.
