Neil Fyfe Foundation

Neil Fyfe Foundation

The Neil Fyfe Foundation was established by family & friends to honour the memory of Neil who was tragically killed whilst living in the United States, where he was follwoing his dream and working within the golf indutry.

Neil's Foundation was set-up by his father, Steve, and a number of Neil's dearest friends, in his memory.  He was himself a talented, committed and passionate golfer and funds raised through his Foundation's events go towards supporting promising young golfers, helping them reach their potential.  These are distributed through the Paul Lawrie Foundation's programme.

December 2016 - Neil Fyfe's family & friends recently presented the Paul Lawrie Foundation with another cheque, this time for £4500, following their latest fund raising efforts in support of the Neil Fyfe Foundation, the Neil Fyfe Memorial Cup at the Plaza Golf Resort.

Neil's Foundation was set-up by his father, Steve, and a number of Neil's dearest friends in his memory.  Neil was himself a talented, committed and passionate golfer and funds raised through his Foundation's events go towards supporting promising young golfers, helping them reach their potential.  These are distributed through the Paul Lawrie Foundation's programme.

Presenting the cheque to the Foundation, Steve Fyfe explained that the money had been generated through a golf event held in Spain in late October 2016.  The Plaza Golf Society Members at the Plaza Golf Resort welcomed a number of Neil's close friends to their course to play for the Neil Fyfe Memorial Cup in a Match between the Members & Guests, with a fundraiser in aid of the Neil Fyfe Foundation a big element of the event.

Neil had been due to return from the States in October 2014 for a golfing holiday to catch-up with friends but was tragically killed in a road accident.  His friends decided not to cancel the trip they had planned together and insted used the initial occassion to honour their friend.  They have continued to honour Neil's memory by meeting in October for a golf trip annually but this Memorial Cup has taken that tradition to a new level, with the Society Members embracing the event to help raise funds for Neil's Foundation.

The Neil Fyfe Foundation has generated in excess of £15,000 to date.

August 2016 - Family & friends of the late Neil Fyfe have again been busy with various fundraisers and with their latest donation to the Paul Lawrie Foundation.

The now annual Neil Fyfe Memorial Golf Day, this year staged at Duff House Royal, in June, generated £2500 and Keith Richards, one of Neil's closest friends, took on the challenge of the Edinburgh Marathon and was able to donate a further £1700 for his effort.

All of us at the Foundation are extremely grateful to Steve, Neil's father, and Neil's close friends for their generosity.  Neil's legacy is supporting kids from the North East to be the best they can be at a sport about which he was passionate.

November 2015 - A Race Night at the Bon Accord Golf Club in an effort to raise funds for the memorial fund created in Neil's name saw around 100 friends attended the evening.

As a result of the generosity of those involved, Neil's father, Steve, was able to present another cheque to the Foundation today (5th November), this time for £4100.

These donations raised through the Neil Fyfe Foundation go towards the support & development of junior golfers in the North East - an ideal close to Neil's heart - and the Paul Lawrie Foundation is grateful to everyone involved for their generosity.

June 2015 - Friends & family of the late Neil Fyfe recently got together at the Letham Grange Golf Courses, in Neil's honour, to take part in the annual Neil Fyfe Memorial golf event.

Around 40 close friends and relatives made the journey for the event's second staging.

As a result of the generosity of those involved in the day, Neil's father, Steve, was able to present another cheque to the Foundation, this time for £1000.

These donations raised through the fund in memory of Neil go towards the support & development of junior golfers in the North East and the Foundation is grateful to everyone involved for their generous support.

Nov 2014 - Steve Fyfe, father of Neil Fyfe who died tragically whilst on his way to work at a New York State golf resort, handed over a cheque for £1800 that was raised by family, friends and colleagues of the talented North-East born caddie at his recent funeral.

Neil had been out in the States for a number of years where he was "following his dream" to be a caddie on the US Tour circuit.  He had worked at various high-profile venues and had also caddied on several occasions for both Luke Donald and basketball star Michael Jordan.

The family decided that they wanted donations to go towards the development of young talent within the game that Neil loved and we are grateful that they chose Paul's Foundation as their nominated charity.

Hints and tips from Paul and the team.
