Sam Locke today sealed his first major tournament victory in dramatic style in the 36-hole final of the Scottish Men's Amateur Championship, held at Prestwick Golf Club, birthplace of the Open Championship.
In an enthralling first 18 holes, Sam, part of the Foundation's Academy programme for the past 5 or so years, bolted to a 10 hole lead against Anglo-Scot opponent, Ryan Lumsden.
After his tee shot at the 19th hole came back in to play, Sam had to weather the beginnings of a comeback from Lumsden as the Royal Wimbledon player fought back to 8 down, aided by an eagle (against another birdie from Locke) at the 21st hole. However, back-to-back birdies at th 24th & 25th holes from Locke effectively ended the contest with Sam easing to a 9&8 win.
Hints and tips from Paul and the team.
