The Paul Lawrie Foundation chose one of the final weekends of 2017 to stage an open day for juniors to try their hand at a free golf lesson with a PGA Professional coach.
With the intention of getting more kids in to the sport, the Foundation enlisted the support of a team of five PGA Professionals and offered twenty-minute coaching sessions at both the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre Ardoe (The Foundation's home) & The Paul Lawrie Golf Centre Inchmarlo.
Alan Stuart, Andrew Locke & Billy Fyfe (the three resident PGA Coaches at PLGC Ardoe) as well as Ross Anderson & Steven Moir (at PLGCI) each opened-up their diaries for 20 minute sessions for anyone aged 18 or under to come along to have their swing analysed or to have a go at golf for the very first time.
In all, more than 65 lessons were delivered!
Throughout the day, Paul dropped-in on lessons at both Golf Centres and offered some advice to the kids as they were receiving tuition from the Professionals.
The success of the day means that we'll probably look to stage a similar type of event (possibly around the early part of the 2018 season) in due course.
Hints and tips from Paul and the team.
