Open Championship Silver Medallist, Sam Locke, has taken the decision to turn to the Professional ranks following his incredible week at Carnoustie.

Foundation-supported Locke from Stonehaven who’s Dad, Andrew, is a PGA Professional at the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre and caddied for Sam during the 147th Open at Carnoustie has decided that the experience of the Open Championship week has prepared him to tackle life as a Professional Golfer.

Sam was the only Scot to make it to the weekend at Carnoustie’s eighth Open Championship and also the sole amateur competitor to make it past the cut – which fell at 3 over par.

After discussing his future with his family and consulting with his mentor, Paul Lawrie, Sam has decided that life in the Pro ranks is the best route for him.

Over the coming weeks he’ll make his debut in a Professional golf event and so won’t defend the Scottish Amateur Championship title which he won at Prestwick in 2017.
